Capita launches apprenticeship scheme

Young people will be given the chance to develop key business skills and possibly build a long-term career with insurance services business Capita under a new apprenticeship scheme.
The ten successful applicants will work at Capita’s Portsmouth office, with eight working in operations and customer services, one in IT and another in the project management team.
Geoff Hardes, Operations Director at Capita, says: “The current financial climate has seen 1.2 million 16-19 year olds unemployed and not in full-time education.
“This apprenticeship scheme is therefore providing a unique opportunity for young people in the Portsmouth area to get a foot in the door and develop skills which they may decide to use to forge a career at Capita.”
Capita is also partnering with Prudential to deliver training for its own apprenticeship scheme launched recently.
Prudential will offer 50 places for young people in vocational training roles in London, Reading and Stirling. Recruitment for the scheme will run between November and December and successful apprentices will take up their place on the 12 to 18-month course in early 2013.
